The Evelyn F. and William L. McKnight Brain Institute

McKnight Brain InstituteThe McKnight Brain Institute provides leadership for strong basic science and clinical programs in the Neurosciences, including Neuroscience, Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry. It is one of the world's largest research institutions devoted to the challenges resulting from brain and nervous system disorders. The building opened in September of 1998 and provides world-class facilities for research including sophisticated brain imaging laboratories, a 15T research MR unit, and a state-of-the-art linear accelerator.

University of Florida College of Medicine

Academic Research BuildingThe Medical School and Shands Hospital are on the campus of the University of Florida, the flagship university of the Florida State University System and one of the premier universities in the Southeast. With major programs in the sciences, the University provides an opportunity for collaboration between medical and basic and applied sciences, as, for example, between computer sciences and the functional brain imaging program. University libraries complement the fine medical library at the Health Sciences Center.

Shands Hospital

Shands HospitalShands at the University of Florida was established in 1958. The UF College of Medicine physicians practicing at Shands at UF are consistently ranked among America's best by U.S. News and World Report. Shands at UF is a 618-bed tertiary care center with 144 intensive care beds. Shands at UF features four "Centers of Excellence" including Cancer, Cardiovascular medicine, Neurological services, and Transplantation. Shands affiliates with over 480 University of Florida faculty physicians who provide services in more than 40 satellite clinics throughout North Central Florida.

Gainesville VA Medical Center

Malcom Randall VAMCThe Gainesville Veterans Administration Medical Center (GVAMC) is a 473-bed tertiary care facility that is also an active teaching hospital, with an extensive array of specialty services. Gainesville VA Medical Center combines a full range of patient care services with state-of-the-art technology that is enhanced and supported through education and research. It has facilities that include CT and MR scanners.

UF Health Science Center Jacksonville

Jacksonville Health Science ComplexThe Jacksonville campus of the University of Florida College of Medicine, located 75 miles to the northeast, is home to more than 200 physicians and scientists delivering medical care in an urban setting, performing research, and educating medical students and residents.
